How can I get to Limerick Lake Lodge?Guests can fly into either Toronto or Ottawa and then rent a car for a scenic drive to the lake, which takes approximately 3 hours.

Are there nearby restaurants?Yes, The Hideaway restaurant in Coe Hill is just a 15-minute drive from the lodge.

Is this a good place to bring small children camping?The facility is best suited for children who enjoy boating or fishing. Once children reach the age where they are excited to get in the boat and catch panfish, it is a great place to bring them to experience the outdoors.

What is included with a cabin rental?Our cabins feature two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with utensils, dishes, pots, and pans for four people. Linens and towels are not included in the rental price but can be provided for an additional fee.

Is there a beach at the marina?While there is no beach at our facility, there are several excellent swimming locations around the lake that can be accessed by boat.

Is there a boat launch ramp available?Yes, we have a gravel-surfaced launch ramp with a shallow incline, suitable for boats up to 22 feet. The fee for using the launch ramp is $5. This facility is available to all, not just lodge guests or marina customers.

Can I rent a boat?Yes, rental boats are available by the hour, day, or week. Our 14-foot Princecraft and Starcraft fishing boats, equipped with 9.9hp motors, can carry up to 3 adults and are perfect for fishing on Limerick Lake. A boat operator’s card is required, which can be obtained by taking a test in the marina store.

Can I leave my boat overnight?Yes, we have two covered slips with electricity available for overnight rental. Reservations are recommended. If the slips are full, you can park your boat on its trailer in the main parking lot overnight.

Is alcohol served at the lodge?We do not serve alcohol, but Limerick Lake Lodge is very BYOB friendly. The convenience store has ice, mixers, and other supplies for cocktail hour. The lodge provides guests with glassware and corkage at no charge. There are LCBO stores and Brewers Retail outlets in Madoc, Coe Hill, and Bancroft, as well as an LCBO outlet with a limited selection at Trudy’s General Store just 5 minutes away.

Do lodge rooms have private bathrooms?No, the nine lodge rooms share communal washroom facilities for men and women.

What modern amenities are available?Our resort offers free, high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the facility, including campsites. Lodge rooms feature twin USB charging points. Cellular coverage by Bell and Rogers is excellent due to recent infrastructure upgrades.

Is there camping on the lake?Limerick Lake Lodge has several campsites. There are no other organized campsites on the lake, but there are several common-use campsites located on Crown or lumber company property around the lake.

Can I drink the lake water?The Cottager’s Association tests the lake water regularly, and it is usually found to be fit to drink. However, it is not recommended. Treated well water and bottled water are available at the marina store.

Can I explore the lake in a canoe?Yes, many visitors use canoes on the lake. However, be cautious on windy or stormy days as the lake can become dangerously rough.

Can I get to the other lakes by boat?Yes, Limerick Lake is part of a 5-lake chain, and all the lakes are navigable by motorboat.

Is there a horsepower or speed limit on Limerick Lake?No, boats of all sizes and horsepower may be used.

Is it a good sailing lake?Yes, the prevailing southwest winds in the summer provide plenty of fun for sailors of all experience levels.

When is the best time to visit for fall foliage viewing?Plan a fall leaf-watching trip for the last week of September or the first week of October. The date of peak colors varies each year, but the leaves are usually past their prime by Thanksgiving weekend.

When is bass season?Bass season runs from the fourth Saturday in June until November 30th.

When is the best time to catch fish?Lake trout are most active in the two weeks following ice out in the spring, generally the last week of April and the first week of May. While many fishermen aim for the opening day of bass season in late June, more and typically bigger fish are caught in mid to late July.

Does the marina store sell live bait?The store sells worms but not minnows or frogs due to prohibitive licensing fees. Other fishing tackle is available.

Does Limerick Lodge sell fishing licenses?Fishing licenses can be purchased at Canadian Tire stores and several sporting goods stores in Bancroft. They can also be bought online through the MNR website. Lodge staff can assist with the online purchase process.

What is the limit on bass?For detailed information on catch and size limits, refer to the Fishing Ontario regulations book, as Limerick Lake is located in MNR zone 15.

When is trout season?Trout season is from January 1st through September 30th.

What kinds of fish are in Limerick Lake?Limerick Lake is home to largemouth and smallmouth bass, lake trout, and panfish such as rock bass and perch.

What are they biting on?This varies by season, but recently, Berkeley Gulp and various rubber worms have been consistent favorites.

What kind of fishing tackle should I bring?A medium-weight spinning pole with 6 to 10-pound test line and a bait-casting pole with 12 to 20-pound test line will cover most situations. For lake trout fishing, a trolling pole with 200 yards or more of wire or lead-core line is needed.

Are you on a paved road?No, Limerick Lake Lodge is approximately 2.5 km off Highway 62 on gravel roads. It is not recommended to ride in on a road bike. However, it is easily accessible off Km 104 of the Hastings Heritage Trail if you are riding a mountain bike. There is ample vehicle parking at $5 per day for non-guests, free for overnight guests.

What other amenities are provided?We offer a basic metric tool kit for repairs, compressed air up to 100 psi, free drinking water from a tested 'small drinking water' system, and restrooms. Our convenience store at the water’s edge sells beverages and snacks. Free Wi-Fi and public use computers with printing services (25 cents per page) are also available.

Is Limerick Lodge open for snowmobiling?Yes, Limerick Lodge is typically open for several weekends of winter activities in February and early March. Check our news pages regularly for opening and closing dates during the winter months.

Can I horseback ride in the area?Yes, horseback riding is allowed on many of the trails. Riders and their horses are welcome at Limerick Lodge.

Are trail permits available?Yes, Limerick Lodge sells the EOTA “Gold Trail Permit” for use on the province’s trail network. The latest trail maps are available.

Is riding on the roads around Limerick Lodge legal?Yes, Limerick Township allows ATVs and UTVs on municipal roads consistent with provincial regulations. Bancroft also allows riding on its municipal streets, making it a fun destination for restaurants and shopping.

Can I ride my ATV into or out of Limerick Lodge?Yes, Limerick Lake Lodge is about 1 km east of the Hastings Heritage Trail, Km marker 104, on Limerick Lake Road. There is a large parking lot for unloading your machines and parking your trailer.

When are they accessible?The charging stations are accessible 24/7 from May through December. Access may be limited in winter months due to snow and plowing of the road and parking lot.
