Lots of sunshine on Saturday. Sold out of SPF 30 in the store. The temperature was a bit cool for water sports, however the fishermen were finding it close to perfect. With all the cold days and rain this spring, the bass were not cooperating. Weed cover is sparse and the water temperature still in the mid-60s at 3 feet deep. It is going to take some warmer weather to get the bass up and feeding in shallower water. Sunday should be another nice day. Slightly warmer than Saturday and perhaps with a little less wind. Clouds should move in later in the day and rain is possible on Monday. The long range outlook for summer is that the temperature should be about normal with slightly above normal precipitation. Those outlooks are also saying that September will be the nicest month. Perhaps we can slide that back a little and hope for a nice August too. Shorter range, this weekend looks to be mostly sunny with rain predicted to return on Monday.
The marina store is now open 7 days a week, mostly from 8 to 6. Sunday is the only day that is different with the hours being 9 to 6. We now have perishables in stock.
A perfect day for an outdoor wedding on Saturday. A beautiful event at OHara Mills saw former Limerick Lodge employee Monica get married.
On Saturday morning July 13th at 10AM there will be a 2 hour training class on CPR and associated actions for recovery from drowning for adults and children. It will be held here at the marina, rain or shine. The cost is being jointly covered by the LWRA and the Marina. The instructor (from Action First Aid in the Barrie area) will also briefly touch on proper AED use and on the symptoms of opioid overdose and the use of Naloxone. There is no registration. Just be here.
The "down to one lane and expect delays" signs are up on Hwy 62 from Ivanhoe to Madoc. It looks like the long awaited "Two Loons" curve may get removed. The construction in downtown Madoc is also challenging, and the official detour does not detour enough. Use your favorite nav software and find your way around the entire downtown Madoc area. My favorite way is left at the skate park and right on Rollins which brings you back to St. Lawrence St. past the construction. Also keep in mind that the back road from Havelock to Glen Alda is closed for bridge replacement, and Springbrook Road is no longer paved, but is gravel for the summer. Not a good shortcut between 62 and 14 this summer.
A long way off, but the Bancroft Studio tour will be the weekends of September 21-22 and September 28-29. The list of artists is not yet finalized. Always a fun time to visit local studios and enjoy the fall colors while doing so.
357 Limerick Lake North shore is on the market for $269. That is one of the cottages to the west of the islands. Based on the number of inquiries about it, it will be sold quickly.
